Uber has agreed to pay a $2.4 billion settlement with the UK government over charges that it misused its payments system.
In a statement, Uber said it will pay the UK’s government about £900 million in compensation.
It will also be paid £50 million in a separate settlement with its U.S. arm, which will be made to pay back about $500 million to the government.
Uber’s payments system, Uberpay, was shut down in the UK earlier this year.
In the wake of the shutdown, Uber users were forced to switch to other payment methods, including PayPal and Credit Karma.
